He is not awful, he is just weird in a home schooled way. Also, he lived on a zoo! That has to mess you up. His only friends were zebras and tiger cubs-- cut him some slack. He is not used to being around kids, so he didn't know that it is ok to not be great at digging a ditch when you are 11.
I totally agree with you about Anjay though. In fact, here is a list of ways Anjay embarrassed himself in this episode:
- Getting called out by Sophia for letting the girls do all the work
- Lame fight with Taylor. Someone arrest him for false imprisonment and/or teach him how to fight.
- The quote about his bones, obviously.
- He always looked like he was about to throw up

If you go to Anjay's "Friends and Family" page on the Kid Nation website, where they ask him who are his best friends, he says
"I have many friends but don't consider anyone my best friend."
Um, right.
His bones comment made my jaw drop. Seriously, Anjay...that's something Taylor would say.
I liked Anjay, and didn't think he was a bad team leader. He was a cautious and deliberate "let's think things through" kind of person, which is not a bad leadership style. But might have not been the best for a team whose two most outspoken members (Greg and Olivia) were more aggressive types.
Ironically, Anjay might have been a better leader for the Red team. The one thing I give Mike credit for is that he chose all the interesting ("quirky," if you prefer) kids: Guylan had been raised by animal trainers, Jared (of course!) Maggie had been performing with her mother since she was little, Markelle had just been chosen for KIdzBop, Emilie (because no other team wanted her). And then when Blue and Red teams swapped members, he took Nathan...a quiet "keep to himself" workaholic. They might have responded to Anjay better than they did to Mike.
